Djibril Cisse is determined to win back a place in the France squad following his switch to Lazio.

The well-travelled 29-year-old has won 40 caps for his country, netting nine times, but has struggled to force his way back into the national side with just three appearances since leaving Marseille in 2008.

Cisse, who has also been with Auzerre in Ligue 1 as well as Liverpool and Sunderland in the Premier League, is now adding Serie A to his list after Lazio swooped to capture his signature from Panathinaikos.

The confident Frenchman scored a total of 43 times in his two seasons in Greece - adding five in the 2009/10 Europa League campaign.

And now he hopes that by joining a high profile side and playing Serie A football, he'll stand more chance of being selected by Les Bleus coach Laurent Blanc.

Super seasons

"I still have life in my legs," he told French newspaper L'Equipe.

"I had two super seasons with Panathinaikos but obviously it was not enough. It's annoying.

"I know what I am worth, I know what I want and I am not dead as far as the France team is concerned. Is the Greek league not strong enough? We will see this season.

"The Italian league is one of the biggest in Europe and I wanted to discover it. We will have a super team and for me, it is a super challenge. I will face strong defences and I will see where I stand.

"The coach knows Serie A well and he wants strikers who score goals in major leagues."
